Frequently asked questions.
Who do you work with?
We work with public, private and donor-funded organisations, typically:
UK Government departments and ALBs
Implementing partners on FCDO and other donor programmes
Consultancies and delivery partners who need specialist procurement/commercial support
What kind of work do you actually do?
We help clients to:
design compliant, defensible routes-to-market and frameworks
run competitions end-to-end, from market engagement to award
draft and negotiate contract terms and variations
embed governance, risk and record-keeping
improve how they engage with and manage suppliers
Can you support both buyers and suppliers with bids?
Yes – but not on the same opportunity.
We support buyers (e.g. government departments, implementers) to design and run procurements.
We support suppliers/partners to understand requirements and shape credible, compliant responses.
Where there is any risk of conflict, we won’t advise both sides. We maintain clear conflict-of-interest checks and firewalls.
What geographies do you cover?
We’re based in the UK but used to working on programmes with an international footprint, including fragile or otherwise complex environments. Most work is delivered remotely, with on-site visits where needed and agreed.
How do you charge for your services?
It depends on the work:
Fixed-fee for defined pieces of work (e.g. a procurement strategy, toolkit or specific competition).
Day-rate for flexible advisory support.
Fractional arrangements (e.g. 1–3 days per week) for interim commercial leadership.
We’ll agree the scope, deliverables and fees with you up front.
Can you join a procurement that has already started?
Often, yes.
We’re used to being brought in mid-stream to:
stabilise a difficult competition
refresh evaluation questions and scoring
support moderation or assurance
tidy up documentation ahead of award
We’ll want to see the existing documents and timelines first, then we’ll give you a realistic view of what’s possible.
Do you only work under the Procurement Act 2023?
No. We’re comfortable with:
Procurement Act 2023
PCR 2015
DSPCR 2011
donor and internal policy frameworks
We’ll align with whatever regime and internal rules apply to your organisation.
How do you handle confidentiality?
Most of our work is sensitive by nature.
We’re happy to sign NDAs or data-sharing agreements, and we treat client information as strictly confidential. We won’t share names, documents or details of your projects without your consent.
What geographies do you cover?
We’re based in the UK but used to working on programmes with an international footprint, including fragile or otherwise complex environments. Most work is delivered remotely, with on-site visits where needed and agreed.
What size of engagement do you take on?
We support everything from:
short sprints (e.g. 2–10 days) to design a strategy or fix a live issue, through to
longer programme roles (fractional Commercial Lead / Head of Commercial).
If you’re not sure whether something is “big enough”, send a quick outline and we’ll tell you honestly if we’re the right fit.
Do you help with social value, ESG and VfM?
Yes. We regularly help clients:
design social value and ESG criteria and KPIs
integrate VfM into evaluation and contract management
make sure requirements are proportionate and workable for suppliers
How do we get started?
Usually:
Intro call – to understand your context, constraints and timelines.
Short note or proposal – with scope, approach, timing and fees.
Kick-off – once you’re happy, we start working alongside your team.
